Should i be really embarrased that i have absolutely no idea of who this Papin guy is? I know now who he is only because of what I read in the full story but before that I had honestly never heard of him and had no clue that this man even existed. Is he famous purely because of his transition from being a pro football player and on olympian or is there some other claim to fame that he had hiding away somewhere as well?

You need to read the whole story in order to understand it better, it is essentially a man who was a pro footballer who is somewhat of a reclusive poker player from what i can gather who is speaking of his feelings for the game and what it is that he likes, what it is that bought him to wanting to play and all the other things which inspire him when it comes to poker, that's what i have gathered from reading it. And no don't be embarrassed, i did not really know anything of him until now either but i am sure that he is probably quite well known, im just not up to date with everything yet lol.

Should you be embarrassed? In my opinion no because just like you, i had no clue who this person was until i read this story but hey you learn something new everyday. It is interesting to see how a man goes from being a pro footballer to a poker player, such a huge transition when you think of it in the physical sense, football is a very physically demanding career, many injuries that can occur. Playing poker on the otherhand isn't as physically demanding although the mental demands on poker players is rather high and playing poker does not tend to carry the same potential for injury as the contact sports do.
