are there any tournaments that are specifically for men only? I am a female myself so please don't go getting the wrong idea of where this post is going. I am asking purely because I don't know. I can understand where the calls of discrimmination may have come from, i mean were there any women who found it somewhat offensive if there were any men only tournaments? It is good to see that they have gone and done it the right way without causing unneccessary offense to either gender this time around though and it will be interesting to see some new skilled female poker players in the poker world.

Lol I as a male am not offended by this in any way, shape or form. I understand it completely. I mean look back in the day to back when poker and other card games were played in the gentlemans clubs and women were not allowed into these clubs at all, it was a strict rule that women were not permitted to be members or the clubs nor were they allowed to enter the club under any circumstances, in these clubs the men smoked their cigars and cigarettes, they played their gambling games with their poker and blackjack and they drank their beer and their spirits all together without a woman in sight, this was a way of life back then so for a man to complain that this tournament is unfair or discrimminating is certainly laughable.

Yes i wouldn't feel discrimminated against for being barred from this tournament either. Really what kind of a guy would try to enter a tournament that is titled "Ladies" anyway? Silly if you ask me, even if they did take any steps to make it that men can't enter it still would be stupid for a man to enter a womens tournament in my opinion, maybe the men that complain are gender confused or something like that lol because there is no need for a man to enter a womens competition plain and simple, look at all the controversy over the african runner who ran as a female but who has both male and female genital organs.

It would be very silly and also in my opinion very embarrassing for any man to throw a fit over there being a tournament for women only because that man would ultimately end up making himself look like a fool and he may also end up coming off looking like a sexist himself lol as ironic as that may be. I don't see what the problem would possibly be with a tournament being held for women only, look back in history and there are so many events that were there purely for the participation of men only, it wasn't just frowned upon for women to enter these events, it was completely forbidden all together and there were no exceptions to the rule.

There is nothing wrong with them holding a tournament that is specifically for women only, there have been tournaments held which were for men only and no one caused a big uproar over that so any person who makes a big deal over this obviously has some sexist tendancies as far as i am concerned. Really good on them, it is about time that they did something like this and made sure that only women can enter, there have been times before where places have attempted to hold ladies tournaments but have not been able to completely stop men from entering and as a result of this men did enter and once there is so much as just a single male in a ladies tournament it in my eyes no longer is a ladies tournament, it becomes a unisex tournament as both genders are participating.

This will also in my opinion help to expose the game to more women and possibly raise the games popularity to women also. There are some really great and inspiration women poker professionals but there certainly are not as many professional female poker players as there are males. This is not because of any bias in the poker industry but simply because the game isn't as popular to women because of the lack of womens only events, this event will help to show the game off to women and hopefully get more women interested in playing poker and possibly becoming professional poker players.

A ladies championship tournament is not a big deal that people should be up in arms over. There are mens only events held all over the world all the time. And the championship is being held so that the women that win can enter a womens only event anyway so even if men were allowed to enter they would only be able to get so far because even if a man was to enter and was to win he would not be able to enter the next tournament because no doubt there is strict conditions in place for it to keep men from participating. What would they do in the case of a transgender person though or a person who is of both genders if you catch my drift? This would prove to be a challenge for them to decide what to do. Would they just go by what gender the person looks more like physically in the face and body and the gender the person has been living their life as? Yes it is a weird thing to be wondering but hey it does happen, and i just saw an article on that runner who was determined to be of both genders that caused all the controversy when she won that race, so yeah that is what started that in my mind.

People need to stop stressing over whether a tournament allows one gender or not. There are heaps of things that are held for just one gender and not the other. Look back in the old days when it was considered the norm for men only to work and a womans place was at home raising the children and taking care of the house. Yet today if a man has that point of view on life, old fashioned as it may be, he is not thought to just be old fashioned but he is also called sexist. People need to see that sometimes things like this are held for a reason, in this case purely competition and not to be discriminatory towards anyone. Poker is meant to be fun and enjoyable and not a source of huge debate. Let them have their ladies only tournament in peace. The exposure will get more women interested in the game which will mean more people trying to win the World Series of Poker which means more excitement for us watching it.

This is yet another exciting event to look forward to in poker for 2010. We should not place any focus on it because it is a one gender only tournament, we should focus on it because it is yet another new and exciting and much anticipated tournament that we can attend and enjoy which will see another group of people through to the World Series of Poker. I love seeing so many new events popping up on the poker calendar every year and it just goes to show how much poker is increasing in popularity among the public and how much there is to be made by playing. Tournaments like this give normal every day people who play at home online a chance to find themselves in a world wide huge tournament with the possibility of winning and become a champion who will go down in history books in the poker world and will be forever remembered.

Ladies only, Mens only, who cares! It will be a good thing to go to and see and it will get more women into poker, we should face it, as much as you may not want to, poker is currently more dominated by men than women, it is about time some more women came to the field to balance things out abit. It is not as if they are saying that men are better at poker than women are or that women are better at playing poker than men are, they are just holding a tournament that is specifically for one gender, do not hear people in fits over it when they do it for races for the olympics and such so why should it be a big deal if the poker world does it as well? It shouldn't. We should just sit back and enjoy another great event for the poker world this year to come.
