The media has a knack for twisting peoples words, i have seen people who have been interviewed for television that was not broadcast live only to tune into the show that night to see that the comments that they had made had been attached to a statement made by the presenter which had not been said to the person making the comment. For example, a school that my friends children were attending was under scrutiny for their actions in banning children from eating chocolates and lollies and other unhealthy treats from their school lunches, The children were told to leave it and eat it after school, they were made to sit in the lunch area and eat their sandwhichs and fruit before they could play, this spaked debate among parents and spread to the media, on a tv interview they asked parents about how they felt, the cameraman said to my friend “do you think that it is right for them to be taking lunch from the childrens lunchboxes and throwing it away” my friend responded “I have not heard of or seen any children having their lunch confiscated and it has not happened to my children, they are simply told to eat it later. If they were doing that then i would say no it is not alright because it isn’t their food to take in the first place.” This was spun when the news went to air that night with the presenter saying “Parents are outraged at a schools decision to not allow students to eat junk food” and then they played my friends interview but only an edited version where the played the bit where she said “It’s not alright, it’s not their food to take in the first place” which made it look as though my friend was saying that they do take the food from the kids when in fact she had said the opposite. This is one of the many reasons full tilt poker would have for being so quiet through the whole thing, it isn’t hard for their words to be twisted into something totally different. They are just protecting themselves from more harm.
