Some people just ruin the game and the whole fun and entertaining atmosphere of it all when they let their emotions and stress levels get the best of them. As I have always said, if you can't handle losing and you aren't good when it comes to stress then poker probably isn't the best game for you as you will lose, that's a fact, there will be a time in your life when you will lose a game or two and there's nothing you can do about it, if you can't handle stress then it's not a game for you because when the stakes are high and especially when it is a tournament the stress levels have a tendancy to rise even more than what they usually do.

In my opinion any person who acts in a violent or threatening manner when playing poker whether it is online or in a casino or poker room deserves to be banned from that place and permanently at that, they are nothing other than a pure disgrace to the game and it is people like this who ultimately end up making the gambling industry and those of us who enjoy gambling and playing poker look bad in the eyes of others, and that causes us all sorts of troubles when it comes to our ability to gamble these days with more and more laws popping up or being suggested which make the game harder and harder to be enjoyed because there are so many restrictions being placed on it.

People like this who act so violently at what should be a peaceful, enjoyable event, disgust me. They do not deserve to be able to play poker and attend these kinds of events. Poker in my mind is a privledge and not a right. What makes a person like the one in this story feel that he has the right to assault another human being over a card game? I am sure that if the shoe was on the other foot this man would not like it if he found himself as the victim of an incident such as this, no doubt he would be the first one pressing the assault charges, and no doubt he would be thinking that this person is completely wrong for attacking him and yet he would have the mentality that when he attacked this man he was in the right in attacking him, the logic of people like this is just completely screwed up, they give the game a bad name and we are much better off without them.

It seems almost as if these people that are commiting these disgusting acts of violence at these events such as poker tournaments feel that they have a right to do so, although why on earth they would think that they have the right to attack another person without provocation or real reason is beyond me. What is it that happens in a peaceful poker tournament that turns these people into egotistical maniacs that feel that it is ok to assault another person? I can understand why this sort of thing happens at events such as wrestling matches and even football games but something like poker? There is just not reason for it at all, poker isn't a contact event, unlike wrestling and football, so they can't use the excuse of that. It is just disgusting to see people with this kind of behaviour.

There is one main word that jumps into my mind when i read of people such as these violent morons and that word is, pathetic. They make themselves look like idiots, they don't make themselves look big and tough or anything like that, they just make themselves look like pathetic, childish, macho wanna be, sore losers. And ultimately that is all that they truly are deep down. If he, the man who started the assault, had been assaulted by a stranger for reasons that he was not aware of then he would not like it so why the heck does he think it is alright to do it himself? These people don't deserve to be able to go to these events but unfortunately you can not stop them.

What makes all of this violence even worse is the fact that we talk about it to try to raise awareness of it and to try to deter other people from behaving in the same way and yet at the same time when we are doing this with the intentions of stopping others from acting in the same deplorable way we are also giving exposure to those people who have acted out like this, we are telling people about them, talking about them, others know about them and all of a sudden everyone is talking about them which makes them feel that they are actually popular all because of this violent behavior and they then get a taste for it so to keep the popularity and the "Bad boy" image they keep doing it over and over. It is a vicious cycle. Looks like we are screwed either way.

There is no excuse for this kind of behaviour at a poker tournament. There is no need for such excesses in testosterone or that macho man attitude. I hate nothing more than people who like to pick fights with other people for no real good reason. Why would you just go up to someone you don’t even know and just start fighting with them, physically or verbally? These people need to be banned for life from these events, they ruin it for all of us and they give us a bad name. The game doesn’t need people like this around, obviously if they don’t like losing then they have definitely picked the wrong game to be playing lol everyone loses at some time or another, these people need some anger management or something like that.

Sounds to me, and this is just a guess which is drawn from my own personal experience, that there was probably alcohol involved in this incident. It wouldn’t surprise me, there is plenty of violence at all kinds of events and venues that starts because of someone or all parties involved being under the influence of some drug or heavily intoxicated. It is creepy how it can develop so fast, someone who may under normal conditions be rather quiet and timid and happy can turn into a very aggressive, loud and scary person when they have had too much to drink. There are some people who are especially affected by some kinds of alcohol more than others. The violence that is occurring at poker events are not to common but they do seem to be happening a little more in recent times than what they used to.

I do know what you mean by people being more affected by some specific alcohols more than they are by other types. I have a friend who no longer drinks at all but she used to drink every weekend when ever we went out to the clubs, as you do, and she would be fine on the vodka and the scotch and the beer but if she had rum she would go completely insane, it was as though she would turn into this whole other very scary person, not like herself at all, she would be very short fused and go off at the slightest thing and she wouldn’t think twice about starting a fight with someone just because she thought they were looking at her the wrong way or something like that. It is a worry what alcohol can do to some people and there are plenty of innocent people that get hurt. Poker is meant to be a fun and challenging game and although there are times when there is tension it is never meant to be an aggressive or violent game.

Alcohol is becoming a problem almost everywhere. The violence that it appears to fuel is becoming more severe with it now being a terrifying trend for people to glass other people, for those of you who do not understand what this term means it is just the term used when someone attacks another person with a glass or glass bottle whether it be broken or not. And it does not ever seem to be just one person fighting another, it always seems to be a person being attacked by a number of offenders, and then more people join in to help out the person that was fighting outnumbered and then it just turns into one big and ugly all in brawl. There needs to be more education in schools about the risks associated with drinking and about drinking responsibly. Alcohol can kill, and not just by alcohol poisoning, the violence that is plaguing our streets in the areas where our busy nightlife occurs has killed people before and it will keep doing so until something drastic is done to stop it.
