The term "Donk" is a shortened form of the word donkey. It is used to describe a player who isn't very good, usually a player who makes poor decisions in playing their cards and ultimately usually keeps playing with bad cards purely because they are hoping for a miracle card to somehow save them.

Yes you never want to be called a donk in poker, it is nothing short of an insult, there are some times though when calling other players donks is considered to be both inappropriate and of poor taste no matter how much they may indeed deserve the title.

A donk is a "Donkey" or an "ass" who plays pretty poorly. They have a tendency to not pay attention to the game properly and make bets when they shouldn't, usually they never choose to fold, they hold out for the whole hand purely on the hopes that somehow they will still win by some major fluke such as the other playing bluffing with nothing decent in their hand at all. Unfortunately you may come across a fair few of these players, especially newer players.

Yes you will come across players like this, whether you are playing online or in a real life casino in person, it doesn't matter, they can be found at both of these poker avenues. Although they aren't very good to play against, and although they may seem to be somewhat of a pest, it is not good for you to call someone one, it doesn't matter if others have, you can tarnish your reputation so don't resort to the name calling no matter how much they might deserve the title.
